30 minutes northwest of downtown Phoenix lies Glendale, AZ. It’s close enough to still enjoy all of the amenities of the city while providing a quieter, small-town feel. Glendale became a town in 1910 and offers a great blend of history with modern entertainment and is a hotspot for sports fans as well.
Known as Arizona’s Antique Capital, the town also offers plenty of modern shops to explore too. Glendale has even been recognized by USA Today as one of the ten best places in America for shopping.
Are you an Arizona Cardinals fan? The history-making State Farm Stadium featured the first retractable roof and has been home to two previous Super Bowls and one upcoming in 2023.
No visit to Glendale would be complete without heading to the Sahuaro Ranch Park Historical Area. It features historic ranch buildings as well as typical municipal park grounds, such as picnic areas and playgrounds.
Love nature or gardening? Don’t miss out on the award-winning Xeriscape Botanical Garden, which features lovely displays of the most beautiful plants the Sonoran Desert has to offer.
Who doesn’t love holiday light displays? Don’t miss the Glendale Glitters holiday light show in December which features 16 blocks of illuminated buildings and decorations.
